Give Claude, Cursor or any MCP client access to the full editor. Agents can cut clips to a song, apply techniques, inspect frames and export, all on your computer.
Download driftedit-mcp.mjs from Help, Connect an AI agent in the studio. Node 20 or later and Chrome must be installed on the same computer.
Run the command below in Claude Code, or add an entry in the MCP settings of Claude Desktop, Cursor or another client.
Provide file paths and describe the edit, including the song, style, length and export location.
Replace the example path with the location of the downloaded file.
claude mcp add driftedit -- node ~/Downloads/driftedit-mcp.mjs
{
"mcpServers": {
"driftedit": {
"command": "node",
"args": [
"/full/path/to/driftedit-mcp.mjs"
]
}
}
}
Add --show after the file path to watch the agent work in Chrome. Use --out followed by a folder path to set the export location.
Make a 30-second vertical edit from the videos in ~/Videos/trip, cut to ~/Music/song.mp3 in the Hype style. Check a few frames, then export to ~/Desktop.
The describe tool explains how to make an edit and lists the available styles, techniques, effects, transitions, text, captions and Library assets.
Read the tempo, kicks, snares, sections and drop. Correct kick timings by hand and use them in the next take.
Apply kick impacts, punch-ins, velocity edits, rewinds, freezes, wipes and loops. Track motion, animate depth, blur backgrounds or use the talking-head editing tools.
The agent can inspect individual frames or a contact sheet before making changes.
Save MP4, WAV or PNG files to a specified path. Free video exports are up to 1080p with a faint watermark.
The server opens the studio in a separate Chrome instance on your computer. It reads files from disk and saves exports there; nothing is sent to DriftEdit. Frames and timeline data requested by the agent are sent to that agent, under its own terms.
Find the server file and setup instructions in Help, Connect an AI agent.
