Help

The basics, in the order you meet them.

Your first edit

  1. 1

    Bring in your media

Press Import or drop files anywhere on the studio: video, photos, songs, and SRT or WebVTT captions. Files are copied into the browser's storage, so they are there next time.

  2. 2

    Make an auto edit

Open Auto in the rail (or the action bar on a phone), pick the song, a style and a length, and press Make the edit. Another take reshuffles; Remake keeps what you changed.

  3. 3

    Edit on the timeline

Drag clips to move them, their edges to trim, S to split at the playhead. Right-click or long-press anything for its menu.

  4. 4

    Export

Export in the top bar: choose the format, the resolution, the frame rate and the quality, and where to save the file.

Good to know

Move an edit between devices

Project file in the top bar saves the project, with or without its media, as a .driftedit file. Open it on another device with Project file, Open.

Every action has a key

Help, Keyboard shortcuts in the menu bar lists them all, grouped as the menus are. Edit, History lists every step and goes back to any of them.

A file that went missing

Clearing the browser's data removes imported files. Import the same file again, or choose Find the file on its tile, and every clip of it comes back.

Smooth playback

The editor makes a lighter copy of each video to play from, and shows the full picture whenever it stops. The Proxy switch under the viewer turns that off.
