## Familiar tasks in DriftEdit

- **Cut clips to a song's beat** Open Auto and choose a song, clips and a style, then select Make the edit. Cuts fall on the song's kicks. Each shot is an editable timeline clip; Remake around my changes keeps the shots edited by hand and recuts the rest.
- **Generate captions from speech** In Captions, select From speech. Choose a Language or Auto-detect, then select Make captions. Transcription runs on the device in any of 99 languages, with timings for each word. The 80 MB model downloads once.
- **Style captions and emphasise words** Open the Style tab in Captions and click a style to apply it to all captions. Most styles mark the word being spoken. For emphasis on specific words, select a caption and open Emphasis in the Video tab. Pick the words, then use Colour, Bold or Bigger, or set Line to Underline or Highlight.
- **Remove pauses from a talking video** Select the clip, then choose Techniques, Talking-head video, Remove pauses. Pauses appear as shaded areas on the timeline for review. Set Pauses longer than and Breath kept each side. Turn off any pause to keep it, then remove the rest in one step.
- **Blur the background behind a person** Select the clip, then choose Techniques, Visual edits, Blur the background. In the Adjust tab, change Strength on Background blur or switch the effect off. Select Brush to paint on the viewer: Add keeps an area sharp; Remove blurs it.
- **Animate a zoom or movement with keyframes** In the Video tab, enable the diamond beside Scale, Position, Rotation or Opacity. Move the playhead and change the value. Set each keyframe's easing in the Animate tab, for example Ease in and out.
- **Create a speed ramp** Select the clip and open the Speed tab. Choose Ramp, then a preset: Montage, Hero, Bullet, Jump cut, Flash in or Flash out. To make a custom ramp, edit the Speed curve; its points snap to nearby beats. Use Frame blending to smooth the slow sections.
- **Animate text** Select a title and open Text. Choose an animation from the In, Out or Loop tab, such as Typewriter, Pop or Word pop. For words that appear one at a time on the kicks, apply Words on the beat in Techniques.
- **Mask part of the frame** In Effects, under Keying, apply Box mask, Oval mask or Split mask. Open the Adjust tab and select On the viewer to position the mask with handles. Set Keep and Feather there too. All mask settings support keyframes.
- **Clean up speech or separate it from music** Select the clip and open Voice in the Audio tab. Enable Clean up the voice and set Strength; switch it off to hear the original. Isolate the voice in the same group separates speech from music, effects and room sound on the device. Its 31 MB model downloads once.
- **Export in several aspect ratios** Open Export in the top bar. Under Also in, choose 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9. Each version is reframed, and all files are saved in one zip.
- **Use CapCut keyboard shortcuts** In Help, Keyboard shortcuts, set Preset to CapCut. Ctrl+B (Cmd+B on a Mac) splits at the playhead. A activates the Select tool; B activates the Blade tool. Click a shortcut to assign a custom key.
